SIMULTANEITY
Time-Based Forms
Video
My aim with Simultaneity is to leave you with more questions than answers. The truth is, we know nothing about anything as our everything could be nothing. So who are we to give answers to the questions life throws at us? Time dictates everything we do. Everything is driven by time, yet we don’t even know what time is. As Aristotle said, ‘Time is the most unknown of all unknown things.’ The more questions you ask, the more questions you will find, and the fewer answers you will have. Good luck finding your way out of this rabbit hole.
My artmaking practice has been influenced by the study and interpretation of the following artists: LAPP-PRO (JanLeonardo Woellert and Joerg Miedza); Haines & Hinterding (David Haines and Joyce Hinterding), Carbon Copy Reactor series, Telepathy.
Marker's Commentary
This body of work demonstrates a complex understanding of compositing visual effects and post-production techniques to fabricate a digital world architectural visualisation. The practice evident in this Time Based Form highlights a complex knowledge of cinematic conventions such as the match cutting transition, time lapse manipulation of the scenes and dramatic use of sound. The theme of simultaneity is reflected in the motif of micro and macro worlds that are endlessly repeated, highlight the conceptual intention to convey the complex idea of existence within a spatial-temporal framework.
