My body of work, Acorn to Oak, explores the enlightenment matriarchal connections offer. It subverts traditional expectations of still lifes that refer to the futile allure of earthly pleasures. Through cultural symbols embedded in the subject matter, it expresses passing in a positive light, rather than a negative. The hyperrealist self-portrait is represented in conversation with my late Baba, with the lines in our faces full of stories and experiences. My work as a whole is intended to be a comment on the ones we love, based on personal reflection and the reverence that comes from nourishment. Connection is love.

As I transition from child into fledgling adult I am challenged by an overwhelming sense of the unknown. Informed by my physical environment as well as my inner landscape, my body of work represents my experience as a growing human being, expressing my thoughts and emotions in a tangible form. Fascinated by folklore and tradition, my work explores culture and belief through my personal lens of symbology and visual storytelling. I leave meaning open for individual interpretation. My work invites a contemplation of what it is to be human and recognises the beauty that can be found all around us.

"Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." Lewis Carroll. My body of work represents the ideas of loneliness, confinement and isolation within a space of safety. Lewis Carroll's Cheshire Cat is both a guiding figure and a threat, expressing the darker thoughts within our imagination, especially during night-time hours when our imaginations are free to 'run wild'.

My body of work is a memento mori exploring humanity's impermanence, reminding viewers of their own transience. It mourns the absence of individuals who we never knew, paying respect to their lives regardless of our relation to them. Hollow sculptures of clothing express the brevity of our lives. The absence of the figure in the fossilised objects represents varying states of absence. Accompanying objects provide some elaboration on these anonymous figures and their unheard memories. My intent is to prompt reflection upon the extent to which lives are valued before and after their passing. Mortality transcends the confines of materialism.

My body of work uses the nostalgia for different generations of houses as a foundation to represent the history of Australian suburbia. This work was inspired when I uncovered the history behind my grandparents' house on Sydney's Northern Beaches, learning how the area went through extreme transformations from paddocks for cattle and other livestock to a maze of houses. My intent in Little Boxes on the Hillside ... was to prompt viewers to question their perception of Australian suburbia.
