In A Child's Paradigm, the characters and world that I created represent my own opinions and perspectives on the fragility of childlike innocence in a world of adult wars. 'Childlike innocence' is something deeply valuable to me, yet it is a battered concept. Using two parallel storylines in my body of work, I contrast the two characters' worlds to engage the audience in details and emotion, and in this way to build a new story in every individual. This work goes beyond my visual choices, and has become a mirror of the child in me.

Levelling up: within the context of a game; to improve or advance oneself. Throughout life, we are constantly 'levelling up' as we conquer our fears. My body of work is an interpretation of my own journey battling fears at different stages of my life, proposed through the narrative within a video game with supporting merchandise. The game's main interactive character represents my present self. Her objective is to protect her younger self from the monsters encountered on each level, where each monster is symbolic of one of my past fears. As the game advances, the younger self matures by unlocking elements of strength and experience, making discoveries and overcoming adversity.

My body of work investigates humanity's ever-changing imagination. As we grow older our imagination changes to understand that which we don't understand and express that which we feel. My work represents the characters I drew at different stages of my life, communicating my ever-evolving perspective. Some of these characters overlap, some exist on their own but they have never disappeared and I have never left them behind. They simply grew alongside me.

In my body of work, home interiors are subverted from representing privacy, growth, direction, intimacy and happiness into alienation, loss, mystery, intrusion and uncertainty. Inspired by Arnold van Gennep's ethnography, my work follows the subject undergoing a liminal (transition) rite, a general structural experience for all humans. It communicates the awe accompanying rites of adolescence, with their immense possibilities of change, and the world's dreamlike nature. My work leaves the rite's results open to audience interpretation as it has left no visible effects on the figure, just as our own encounters with periods of upheaval engender intangible changes in identity.
