Accretion and Abrasion pays homage to the natural beauty found in deteriorating surfaces as they evolve over time. Inspired by my observations of rust and erosion on my family property in rural NSW, 'Glengarry', my body of work layers organic rust prints, etching, lino, carborundum and monoprints. I used these printmaking techniques to represent the cyclical accumulation of layers and wearing away of materials in both the natural and industrial realms. My intention is to raise awareness of the intrinsic artistry and beauty of these natural processes.

Mundane Reverence examines our existence within a world that can feel overwhelming, disconnected and chaotic, constantly demanding our attention and time. In my body of work the landscapes of a nonsensical, fantastical world are overbearing while simultaneously crumbling and decaying. Inspired by traditional architecture and depictions of the sublime as well as modern infrastructure, my work communicates the persistence of an overpowering presence in our lives that transcends the boundaries of time. Fragments of everyday mundanity represented within these landscapes are elevated by the intaglio prints, conveying the solace found in the simple and mundane within the chaos around us.

Still escaping life, still killing time ...

As we mature and our entertainment preferences change, we find different escape mechanisms to remain ignorant of world events. Initially my body of work explores the toys which keep us blind, in the great blissful ignorance of childhood, to the great suffering and generational gap around us. These ways of killing time follow us into the sophistication of video games which, through various consoles, hold us to a continued deterioration of our health. Finally, this escapism matures and our identity is developed past our cultural heritage through an exploration of the medium of music, enjoying the personal expression it offers.
